Godly Women Quotes from the New Testament to Inspire Faith
The New Testament is filled with stories of women who lived faithfully and boldly for God. Were their lives perfect? No! Great, that means there's hope for me too.
But their devotion shows us what it means to serve with humility, strength, and love. These passages give me encouragement for my own walk with Christ.
For me, verses about godly women demonstrate how God values faith, service, and inner beauty in women. They inspire me to keep my priorities where they belong.
Believing in God’s Promises
†
Luke 1:45
“Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”
Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a young woman chosen by God to carry and give birth to our Savior, remembered for her faith and obedience.
I can’t help but think of the courage it must have taken for Mary to fully trust God’s promise.
Mary didn’t have all the answers, and yet she believed. That kind of faith challenges me in my own life. I like to plan, even over plan, to know what’s coming next. But this verse shows me that my confidence should always rest in God’s faithfulness.
Mary’s story demonstrates that believing God’s promises opens the door for His work in our lives. It makes me want to live with that same kind of trust, even when the path seems filled with uncertainty.
Strength in Serving Others
†
Romans 16:2
“I ask you to receive her in the Lord in a way worthy of his people and to give her any help she may need from you, for she has been the benefactor of many people, including me.”
Phoebe was a trusted deacon in the church at Cenchreae. She’s described as a servant of the church and as someone who helped many, even Paul himself. That speaks volumes.
When I reflect on Phoebe’s example as a generous woman, I’m challenged to think in the ways that I serve God and his people.
How many times can I come up with an excuse as to why I’m too busy to serve? As to why it’s the wrong time for me. It’s too much of a challenge for me.
How many excuses can I come up with to tell God He’s inconveniencing me?
Serving might be lending behind-the-scenes support. It might look like encouraging a friend, sharing resources with someone in need, or volunteering in my community. God is always there for us, shouldn’t we always be there for Him?
Passing Down Faith with Purpose
†
Titus 2:3-4
“Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children.”
It’s so important to live a life that others can learn from. Hopefully for the good!
I think about the women who have poured wisdom into me, be it through advice, honesty, or simply by living out their faith in a way that inspired me to do the same.
The verse shows the beauty of women supporting each other through different stages of life. It challenges me to ask myself...How am I setting an example? How can I use my words and actions to help the next generation grow in faith?
God gave us a purpose, let us live our lives with purpose.
Living with Inner Beauty and Faithfulness
†
1 Peter 3:3-4
“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
I can’t (and won’t) tell you how to interpret scripture. But I don’t see that this passage means to reject outward beauty. I do like to try different hairstyles when I can!
Rather it’s the reminder of where, as a woman, my true beauty comes from. Inner qualities like faith, kindness, and gentleness are what last.
It’s also a gut check on what I prioritize. I can spend so much time worrying about how I present myself outwardly. Pluck, curl, conceal, tweeze. But none of these activities affect the condition of my heart.
My faith, my attitude, my words. These are the things that reflect Christ. When I think about the people I admire most, it’s rarely because of how they look. It’s because of the way they carry themselves with humility and grace. That’s the kind of beauty I want to exude.
Honoring Women Who Labored for the Gospel
†
Philippians 4:3
“Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life.”
In this passage, Paul was speaking of Euodia and Syntyche, two women who played an active role in the church. They were laborers in the gospel.
Reading this inspires me to live boldly in my own time. God has always used women in significant ways to build His kingdom. I may not be traveling with Paul or helping plant churches...but I can still contribute to the gospel through my own work.
That might mean writing words that point people back to God, or simply living out my values in a way that makes others curious about Christ

Carrying On the Example of Godly Women
When I look at these passages, I’m struck by how consistently the New Testament honors women of faith. Mary, Phoebe, Euodia, Syntyche, all remembered for their devotion to God and their service to others.
These scriptures encourage me to keep serving even when it goes unnoticed, to use my gifts, and to focus on inner qualities that reflect Christ.
So as I reflect on these quotes, my prayer is simple. That my life would echo the same faith, courage, and devotion of the women in the New Testament.
And I hope you find reassurance in them too. That you see your own potential to live out your faith in ways that matter, regardless of where you are or what role you play.
